You can Help SPES continue to deliver these valuable learning experiences for kids by becoming a member, volunteering, or making a donation.
Urban Stewards is a teacher directed program for grades four to seven. Using the SPES teacher's manual, teachers work with their students inside and outside the classroom to increase their environmental literacy, and to help students understand how to lessen their impact on the environment.
The new Urban Stewards teacher's manual is now available. This 12-lesson manual includes IRP connections, fully laid out lesson plans, background information on each topic including a glossary of terms, ready to use worksheets, school-based action projects, extension activities and resource lists. Lessons can be applied independently or as an entire unit, and minimal preparation is required. These lessons are an excellent resource for your science unit with cross-curricular connections to Language Arts, Social Studies, Personal Planning and Art.
