Stanley Park Community Garden

The Stanley Park Community Garden is a partnership between the Vancouver Park Board, the West End Residents Association and the Stanley Park Ecology Society. Located near the Lost Lagoon Nature House, this garden seeks to provide a place for the public to become actively involved in tending the earth, and will feature community flower plots and a native plant demonstration garden.

Community Gardens serve as an incredible focal point for neighbourhoods.  In our modern lifestyles we are often too busy to stop and smell the flowers (or worried about the pesticides on them), a Community Garden has the power to connect neighbours, build friendships, allow young and old to learn from each other and much more.

The Native Plant Demonstration Garden seeks to promote the use of native plants in the landscape.  Native plants are not only aesthetically pleasing in a garden setting, but also contribute towards habitat for local wildlife, provide an opportunity to learn about First Nations culture, are low maintenance, and do not require fertilizers, pesticides or excessive watering.

The Stanley Park Community Garden seeks to transform a traditional urban lawn landscape, into a dynamic and living space.  In doing so it will provide a dramatic example of how a healthier natural environment can be created.  To learn more about the project please visit the
