Bald eagles in the Vancouver area set up territories, return to / select a nest site
March to April
1-3 (usually 2) eggs are laid
April to May
Hatching starts early to late April or May after a 36 day incubation period
If two eggs hatch, usually only the chick that is more aggressive and takes most of the food, survives
May to July
Hunting, eaglet feeding and eaglet brooding duties are shared by both parents until the young are strong enough to fly at about 12 weeks of age at which point they leave the nest (fledge)
August to October
Shortly after fledging the young begin independent life. Many adults and juveniles move to nearby rivers (and their fish runs) as a stable food source
