Coyotes 101

Coyotes 101 is a coyote-preparedness auditorium presentation for schools.  Topics of discussion include coyote identification, behaviour, survival requirements, and attractants found in cities and backyards.  Most importantly, students are taught appropriate and inappropriate behaviour around coyotes.  Activities include a slide show, a coyote pelt and skull demonstration, an encounter skit, and a coyote invitation skit.

Coyote Class Program

Interested in having your students directly take part in the Co-Existing with Coyote's experience?

This Intermediate or Primary program includes:

Venue: class and school grounds
Time: 2 hours
Size: 60 students
Cost: $300 per school

The coyote (Canis latrans) serves as is a prime example of how urban wildlife successfully adapts to an urban environment and how community residents need to take action to reduce conflict between humans and wildlife.  Our educators will lead your students in a guided walk around your school yard, to help visually identify areas that could attract coyotes. We also aim to encourage a sense of stewardship in keeping their school grounds free of food wrappers and other trash that is often left after recess or lunch time. Students also actively participate in a coyote deterring session whereby they learn, practice and demonstrate being BIG, MEAN and LOUD. They learn the importance of never running away from a coyote and always telling an adult if they saw one.
